PerformRx Receives URAC DTM Accreditation

Philadelphia, PA – PerformRx, LLC, a full-service pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) with industry-leading clinical programs and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas family of companies, announced today that it has been awarded Drug Therapy Management (DTM) accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry. URAC’s DTM Accreditation standards assess a range of professional activities, including formulating medication treatment plans, monitoring efficacy and safety of medication therapy and enhancing medication adherence through patient empowerment and education.

“PerformRx’s clinical culture is focused on providing the most sound, efficacious treatments and programs for optimal outcomes,” said Mesfin Tegenu, M.S., R.Ph., president of PerformRx. “URAC’s re-accreditation of our DTM program is proof of our continued dedication to our member-centric philosophy and to providing the most clinically-effective drug therapy management possible. We are proud to receive URAC’s DTM Accreditation.”

PerformRx is a clinically-focused PBM that has provided best-in-class services since 1999, including formulary development, DTM and rebate management. The company’s business segments include Medicaid, Medicare and commercial and employer groups plans. PerformRx’s DTM program is designed to optimize therapeutic outcomes and decrease overall cost. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians review integrated data, identify gaps in therapy and proactively address any identified issues through personalized consultations with patients and prescribers.

“By applying for and receiving DTM Accreditation, PerformRx has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said URAC Chief Executive Officer Kylanne Green. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards.”

URAC’s DTM Accreditation standards cover the essential parts of a DTM business. These standards include driving appropriate therapeutic outcomes for consumers and reducing adverse events; promoting rational, clinically-appropriate, safe and cost-effective DTM through evidence-based medicine; encouraging communication about medication use; supporting population specification, consumer identification and recruitment; and creating a process for DTM outcomes measurement and quality improvement. URAC accreditation brings the pharmacy management industry a commitment to quality, broad-based governance and inclusive standards development. Employers, consumers, regulators and health plans can rely on URAC for identification of the gold standard in DTM.

URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization, is a leader in promoting health care quality through accreditation and certification programs. URAC's standards keep pace with the rapid changes in the health care system and provide a mark of distinction for health care organizations to demonstrate their commitment to quality and accountability. Through its broad-based governance structure and an inclusive standards development process, URAC ensures that all stakeholders are represented in setting meaningful standards for the health care industry.
